Earlier this month, our teams came to the office in their favourite PJs to support kids in care on National Pyjama Day! Each year, Pyjama Day raises money for The Pyjama Foundation and their Love of Learning program, which provides essential educational support to children and young people in out-of-home care. This unique program in Australia offers evidence-based literacy and numeracy programs tailored for the out-of-home care environment. The funds raised enable the foundation to provide ‘Pyjama Angels’—volunteers who spend one-on-one time with children, reading and engaging with learning materials. This consistent support helps foster a love of learning and leads to better outcomes for children in care, despite the challenges they have faced in their young lives.
This cause is very close to our hearts at Challenge Community Services, as our foster care division witnesses the challenges young people in care face every day. We were excited to get all our teams on board to raise money for another year. So, armed with our slippers and teddies, we mobilised our crews and took the Pyjama Day message out into our communities. From staff members donning colourful onesies to offices decorated with pyjama-themed decorations, the enthusiasm was infectious.
Our team members shared stories and photos on social media, spreading awareness about the importance of the Love of Learning program, raising much needed funds.
Together, we raised an incredible $1,652!
We’re really proud of everyone who was involved, and we can’t wait to do it again next year! The collective effort and passion demonstrated by our teams not only made a significant financial contribution but also highlighted the community spirit that is so vital in supporting children in care.
We hope you enjoy some of these great photos from the day, and you can view our fundraising efforts here.
