Help with NDIS

Am I eligible for NDIS support?

To be eligible for help through NDIS, you must:

  • Have a permanent and significant impairment that is likely to be with you for life
  • Be up to the age of 65 when you register with NDIS
  • Be an Australian citizen or have papers that allow you to live in Australia
  • Be living in an area where NDIS services are provided.

You don’t have to be on a government pension or benefit to receive NDIS support.

What is an NDIS plan?

The NDIS will work out an individual plan based on your personal goals and your particular needs. Your plan could include the support you need from family and carers, community organisations (such as Challenge Community Services) as well as medical supports.

For more information view this short video.

If I have an NDIS plan, can I still choose my own services?

Yes. You have control over your own plan. The NDIS provides money to certain approved service providers. If you have an NDIS plan, this means you don’t need to pay for these services. Challenge Disability Services is an approved provider under NDIS.

About Challenge Community Services

Over 60 years ago we were a small band of parents and friends seeking support services for our children with disability. Today, Challenge has grown to be one of the largest community support services in New South Wales. We provide support to over 2500 people from Albury to Lismore, Sydney, Dubbo, Tamworth and beyond. With over 900 staff, more than 90 of which have a disability, we strive to comply with and exceed all standards required under State and Federal Acts.
In the spirit of Reconciliation, Challenge Community Services acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of this country, and their connection to land, water and community. We pay our respect to them, their cultures and customs, and to Elders both past and present.
