Our Annual Gunnedah Swimming Carnival has been postponed until Thursday, 1 May.
Thank you to everyone who registered for our 2025 Gunnedah Swimming Carnival.
Unfortunately, due to a delay in the Gunnedah Shire Council’s renovations on the swimming pool, our Annual Gunnedah Swimming Carnival has been postponed until Thursday, 1 May.
We really hope that you are able to make it on 1 May, yet we do understand if this change means you’re no longer available. For this we are very sorry.
Please email marketing@challengecommunity.org.au to let us know whether or not you will be able to attend. We will be in touch with all entrants in the coming weeks with further information.
Our Swimming Carnival is open to all people with a disability aged 16 years and over. We welcome participants from disability support organisations across NSW. Competitive swimming events as well as novelty events will be held in a fun-filled and inclusive environment. Registration is free and includes a BBQ lunch! Come join us at the Gunnedah Memorial Pool, Thursday 1 May for a day of fun, activity and connection!
We would like to thank our major sponsor, Whitehaven Coal for their generous donation and support towards this event.

Thank you to everyone who has entered. We have reached capacity and registrations are closed.
Frequently Asked Questions

We cannot allow entrants under 16 years of age to enter the swimming carnival.
We ask for a provider in the entry form to ensure you are competing against new people every time. If you do not have a disability provider, or are self-managed, please note this in the entry form.
You can enter into one of the below events:
Novelty/Non-Swimming events
While these events are in the pool, the entrant does not have to swim to complete the event.
This event includes three different races; Egg & Spoon, Floating Treasure and Walk the Length.

There are different categories for men and women. Entrants are not allowed to have a support worker in the pool to assist them with this event.
Please make sure to arrive by 9 AM so we can check you in with our registration team.
The novelty races will be the first event of the morning, followed by swimming races in the afternoon. We will provide more details about the full schedule soon.
Unfortunately, we are unable to postpone the races to accommodate late entrants.
Every entrant must have an individual form filled out.
We try to split groups from different providers up between the events so every 'team' has a fair chance at winning some medals.
Please bear in mind that the pool area can be very loud on the day. It can also get very crowded.
This event may not be suitable for participants who are uncomfortable in large crowds or uncomfortable with loud noises.
We will have a lunch hour with a BBQ lunch provided to all attendees.
There will water dispensers available to refill your own water bottles.
There will also be a canteen/kiosk open on the day where you can buy hot food and drinks.
Unfortunately we cannot cater for individual dietary needs. Please bring your own packed lunch if you have any specific dietary requirements.
Assistance is allowed for participants entered in our Novelty events only. You will need to organise a support worker to enter the pool with you. Unfortunately we do not have enough staff on hand to assist every individual.
We will have a hoist available on the day for participants who need help getting in and out of the pool. Please let us know in the registration form if you need this.
There will be two lifeguards on duty at all times.
Yes, we'd love to have you cheering on your friends from the sidelines! Come along, bring your supoorter signs and get ready to cheer!
We even have a prize for the person who provides the best encouragement!
We will have a professional photographer and videographer on the day.
We understand some participants may not wish or may not have consent for their image to be published (eg. those under care of the public guardian, those who have entered as part of a school group etc.)
If you do not wish for your photo to be published after the event, please let us know in the registration form and see our staff on the day. We will give you a bright wristband so we know not to publish your image.
