Revolutionising Disability Living: Challenge Community Services partners with Adapt Housing to unveil cutting-edge SDA homes in Armidale
Challenge Community Services, together with ADAPT Housing is set to redefine the landscape of disability accommodation with the unveiling of brand new state-of-the-art Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) Homes in Armidale.
This Friday, February 23, 2024, from 10 am to 12 noon, Challenge Community Services invites the community and media to an exclusive open day at Dala Lane. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore two beautiful purpose-built SDA properties meticulously designed to cater to the unique needs of individuals who live with disabilities.
Speaking ahead of the event, Naomi McCorkell, Executive Director Disability Services for Challenge Community Services expressed pride in the organisation’s commitment to pioneering residential living solutions in regional areas. “Our commitment to the Armidale community signifies a monumental step towards providing unparalleled support and independence to people who live with disability,” Ms McCorkell stated. “For too long, people with disability have lived in housing that prevents opportunities to truly gain independence in the home and in the community. We can now expect more than traditional nursing home settings for younger people living with disability; these new homes offer a homely environment coupled with cutting-edge technology and design funtionality, ensuring residents receive the highest level of care while enjoying newfound independence.”
The innovative homes, crafted by a local developer and ADAPT Housing, have been purposefully constructed to meet the diverse needs of people who live with disability, setting a new benchmark in specialist disability accommodation. The open day serves as an opportunity to showcase the groundbreaking design and amenities of these homes, aiming to both fill vacancies and ignite interest in this transformative living concept.
Challenge Community Services is also excited to announce plans for expanding this groundbreaking initiative beyond Armidale, with SDA Homes slated to open in Tamworth and beyond later this year. This expansion underscores the organisation’s unwavering dedication to enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities across regional Australia.
