Annual game ensures fun times for all

Fun was the name of a special game at Gipps St Fields on Sunday.

The venue hosted the third annual Soccer Cup Challenge, a clash played between Tamworth FC and a select side from Challenge Community Services.

Challenge went into this year’s clash as defending champions and retained the trophy for another 12 months after an impressive 8-2 win.

Barry ‘Coach’ Murphy was delighted his side made it a winning hat-trick.

“I’m a very happy coach,” Murphy told The Leader.

“The team played magnificently well to win the trophy for the third year in a row. Credit to all the players from both sides.”

A notable standout was Harry Wachtel.

Wachtel played the match and was a conspicuous presence due to sporting crutches.

He replied – “I’m off to the hospital to get it checked out now,” when asked if he carrying an ankle injury.

The match was followed by a special lunch at the Family Hotel.
