Disability Leadership Team Immersion Recap: Empowering Our Future
Last week, we achieved a major milestone in our journey to strengthen leadership and drive meaningful impact across Disability Services. We brought together 80 incredible leaders from across NSW and QLD for a two-day Leadership Development Program, held on the serene and powerful lands of Wonnarua Country in the Hunter Valley. From the very first moment, the energy was electric—and what unfolded over the two days was nothing short of transformational.
We were honoured to begin the immersion with a traditional smoking ceremony, led by Wonnarua Elder Uncle Warren Taggart. This heartfelt welcome grounded us in respect, culture, and shared purpose. It set a powerful tone for the days ahead, where connection, reflection, and growth were at the forefront.
The theme of the event was clear: purposeful leadership. With expert facilitation from Natalie Welch and her coaching team, our leaders embarked on a journey of self-discovery, team collaboration, and future-focused thinking. Through dynamic sessions, coaching, and experiential activities, we explored what it means to lead with authenticity, courage, and impact.
Over two energising days, our Disability Leadership Team came together to connect, grow, and reimagine what impactful leadership looks like across our services. Through a mix of inspiring presentations, hands-on activities, and reflective sessions, leaders explored how to lead with purpose, build strong team cultures, and shape the future of disability support.
The program created space for deep connection, fresh thinking, and collaborative planning—leaving our leaders feeling recharged, aligned, and ready to take bold, meaningful action in their roles. With a shared vision and strengthened sense of purpose, this immersive experience marked an exciting step forward in our commitment to growing strong, values-driven leadership at every level of our organisation.
This immersion was more than an event—it was a movement. A movement toward stronger leadership, deeper connection, and lasting impact. And this is just the beginning.
