Meet Georgina Purcell

Georgina commenced her role with Challenge Allied Health as a Social Worker and Behaviour Support Practitioner in 2023 based at our Armidale office. Georgina also travels to Tamworth weekly to provide outreach services to clients. In her role she works with young people in out of home care and NDIS clients across the lifespan. She engages in behaviour support interventions and plan development (including restrictive practices) to establish strategies for her clients to assist and manage problematic thoughts and behaviours. Her role sometimes involves ensuring the voice and rights of the child is heard especially during Mediation with families that have separated. She provides counselling and therapy, assessments and reports, mediation facilitation and training, therapeutic interventions, and advocacy.

Georgina’s background in Social Work includes roles in the housing and homelessness sectors, family violence, child protection and mental health services from both training and counselling roles. She has worked as a caseworker in justice services and has supported general practitioners in health through a variety of health programs and advocacy.

Outside of work Georgina enjoys reading, gardening, music, arts/crafts, cooking, her dog Taj who enjoys “taking me on walks”, travelling (whenever I can), and being a couch potato!
Fun fact – “I once survived a trip from Port Moresby to Mt Hagen in a small plane which would drop its heights faster and deeper than the Big Dipper for the entire duration of the journey – she was the only one who wasn’t sick at the end!
