SIL Vacancies in Calderwood Female Shared Home

If you have an intellectual, physical, or psychosocial disability and are unable to live independently, Supported Independent Living (SIL) could be the right choice for you.

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS support where you can live with other people with a disability or on your own. You will also receive support with everyday tasks like cleaning, cooking, and personal care.

About the Home:

Close to local shopping complexes, cafes, and sporting fields, and approximately a 15-minute drive to Shellharbour City Centre and local beaches. Close to a public bus stop and Albion Park train station.

The home features the following:

  • Open plan kitchen, family and dining area
  • Media room
  • Built-in wardrobes in all bedrooms
  • Covered outdoor entertaining area
  • Ducted air conditioning

About the Vacancy:

Number of Vacancies = 1

The program is recovery-focused and would be suitable for a female participant aged between 30–60 years old. The house is staffed at a 1:3 ratio with a sleepover, and the ideal housemate would have mild-moderate support needs for daily living skills and accessing the community.

The current tenants love spending time socialising, entertaining and participating in activities such as:

    • Group outings to the beach and park
    • Lunch or dinner at the local club, listening to music and having a dance
    • Shopping
    • Arts and crafts

About the Area

Calderwood is a modern suburb in the Illawarra region of New South Wales. As a newly developed area, it offers a vibrant and dynamic community with easy access to a range of services and amenities. Within a short distance of your new home, you will find a local shopping area with general stores and GP services. Calderwood is well-connected with a number of bus stations located just minutes apart from each other, providing easy access to nearby towns and cities. The nearest train station is located in nearby Albion Park Rail.

Support and Funding

Challenge provides 24/7 support staff, including overnight sleepover or active support. Our staff are committed to providing the house members with a high level of support to develop and build life skills, including personal care, budgeting, shopping, cooking, maintaining the living environment, and social skills. All house members are encouraged to be active in the local community. Applicants must have NDIS funding for Supported Independent Living. Challenge residential fees include rent, food, utilities, home maintenance, internet access, basic streaming service, communal appliances, and communal area furniture.
